LESLIE LOWE: Some of the coldest air that we have seen so far this season will filter in over the weekend, with temperatures in the overnights bottoming out in the single digits and sub zero territory for the first time this winter for areas around Colville and Republic!

Aside from a weak system moving through Saturday night into Sunday morning, bringing just the slightest chance of light snow...we will see sunshine, but very cold temps through the remainder of the 6 day forecast!

Saturday: Partly Sunny Skies, winds will be light from the SW and temps will be COLD...bundle up if you are headed up to the mountain...conditions should be nice...fresh snow and sunshine...just bring the hand warmers!  21°/9°

Have a great weekend!

WARMING CENTERS ACTIVATED TONIGHT:

Due to the extreme weather conditions, the City of Spokane has activated its Homeless Warming Center program today, Friday, Jan. 11. The following Warming Centers will be open starting at 8 p.m. today, 1/11/2013 and will remain open until 7 a.m. 1/12/2013.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Wind, humidity and rainfall combined precisely to create the massive killer tornado in Moore, Okla. And when they did, the awesome amount of energy released over that city dwarfed the power of the atomic bomb that leveled Hiroshima. Meteorologists contacted by The Associated Press used real time measurements to calculate the energy released during the storm's life span of almost an hour.
