SPOKANE -- The shoe still fits for Shadle Park. The Highlanders pulled off a clean sweep of North Central on Tuesday, winning both basketball games and retaining the coveted "Groovy Shoes" at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Highlander girls (5-3 GSL, 6-4 overall) got the day started with a 71-30 route of winless North Central (0-8, 0-10). Junior guard Shalise Hicks came off the bench to score 11 first-half points, finishing with a season-high 14 for Shadle Park. Kaycee Hert also had 14 points, her fifth straight game scoring in double figures.
George Pillamai scored 11 first-half points to ignite the Shadle Park boys (4-4 GSL, 5-5 overall) to a 27-14 halftime lead. The sophomore wing finished with 14 points on the night as the Highlanders cruised to a 54-37 win over the Indians (0-8, 0-10).
