UPDATE: City Lifts Stage 2 Snow Event

UPDATED PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CITY OF SPOKANE: The City of Spokane has lifted its Stage 2 Snow Event as of noon, Wednesday, Jan. 9, and is returning to regular winter operations. A full-City plow has been completed with the exception of cul-de-sacs and Browne's Addition. Cul-de-sacs will be plowed today and Browne's Addition is scheduled for plowing tomorrow and Friday, Jan. 10 and 11, starting at 8:30 a.m. each day.

Street crews completed the full-City plow in about two days with the help of Mother Nature, who brought in warm weather and stopped the snowfall, and private contractors, who are being released. It is possible that crews may have missed blocks. Citizens should call 625-7733 to report an unplowed section.

For the rest of the day, the City will use deicers and sanders to deal with icy spots in the arterial areas and prepare for possible new snow later today. Under regular winter operations, crews will plow arterial streets again as soon as there is enough snow accumulation to plow.

Cars must be moved from the north-south streets in Browne's Addition tomorrow and from the east-west streets on Friday. The streets are so narrow in Browne's Addition the trucks cannot get through with vehicles parked on the streets. Vehicles parked in those areas when the plows arrive will be subject to towing. If your vehicle is towed, call 625-4100.

Citizens can stay up to date on City snow removal activities all winter by following the City on Twitter or by liking the City's official Facebook page. Citizens also can check on current street conditions by watching live images from traffic cameras around the Spokane area on CityCable 5 every weekday from 5 to 9 a.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. just click on Spokane Commuter Traffic Cameras or by tuning into channel 5 on the Comcast cable system in Spokane.

Additionally, citizens can send a text to 509.385.5775 to receive updates on parking restrictions. Just type in the word "Brownes" if you live in Browne's Addition, "Hills" if you live along an arterial or in a residential hill route, and "Parking" if you live outside of these areas.
