UPDATE: ‘Naked Burglar’ Arrested After Striking Again In Spokane

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. – Imagine the surprise: you come home to your apartment, only to find your door open and a man standing in the hallway wearing only underwear and your girlfriend's belt around his neck.

That's exactly what happened in Browne's Addition Tuesday night.

That renter, Min Jun Kim, spoke with KHQ this afternoon, saying he was confused about the whole situation, and thinks the man who did it was high.    The burglar had ransacked his apartment, left his own clothing in Kim's bedroom, and left with only Kim's girlfriend's belt.

Kim says he's never seen him before; but police have.

They arrested 22-year-old Trevor Franklin in the stairwell of that apartment complex on Riverside, and say he's a registered sex offender and also the so-called "pantsless burglar" who approached 15 homes in the Manito neighborhood over the weekend.

One of those homeowners described Franklin as having his pants and underwear down around his ankles at the time.

Franklin was also the boyfriend of the woman in Spokane Valley who reported in May that she'd been the victim of human trafficking in an unrelated case.   A few months before that, in March, Franklin was convicted of assault after beating his girlfriend, who also accused him of raping her and forcing her to use meth.

KHQ reached out to Franklin in the Spokane County Jail for comment, but he declined.  He made his first court appearance Tuesday, and is being held on $50,000 bail.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: On Tuesday night around 11pm officers responded to a report of a naked man inside an apartment near 2100 W. Riverside. Officers found 22-year-old Trevor Franklin in a stairwell inside the building. Apartment tenants told officers they found Franklin standing, naked, outside their apartment.

Franklin's clothing was found inside their apartment, and the apartment had been ransacked. The tenants returned Franklin's clothes to him, so he was dressed when officers located him in the stairwell. Franklin was also in possession of property from the victim's apartment.

Franklin was arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary. Franklin is a Registered Sex Offender.

Officers continue to investigate recent burglaries and attempted burglaries that occurred near 3000 S. Manito Blvd over the weekend. Spokane Police received multiple reports of a suspicious male approaching more than 15 houses.

One specific victim reported the suspect had his pants and underwear around his ankles, exposing himself from the waist down. Detectives are working to determine if Trevor Franklin is connected to any of the other reported prowlings.
