Spokane Police Arrest Pharmacy Robbery Suspect

Posted: Updated:

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: On Thursday around 6:21 pm Spokane Police responded to a robbery call at Bates Pharmacy at 3704 N Nevada. Officers were advised the business had been robbed by a male in a mask who had left in a tan Lincoln Towncar.

The suspect had walked into the store and handed the clerk a note demanding a specific type of pain medication. The suspect left with the stolen medication. Witnesses/victims were able to give officers the license plate of the suspect vehicle, but the vehicle was registered out of Seattle.

An alert police radio dispatcher, Kyle Steinmetz, was able to run a record of the vehicle and found that an occupant, who was not the registered owner, had been given a ticket in the vehicle last year.  Officers responded to that subject's address, 2327 E Joseph, where they located the vehicle parked outside the residence. Officers surrounded the house and the suspect came outside and surrendered without incident. Officers arrested 38-year-old Larry Griffin for 2nd Robbery.

This crime was solved by a combination of alert citizens giving police accurate information about the suspect and a conscientious dispatcher digging through lots of information to lead officers to the suspect. Great job!
