Naked Prowler, Naked Burglar: Spokane Police Sort It Out

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - With recent reports of both a "naked prowler" and a "naked burglar" in Spokane, police decided to set the record straight.

Officer Jennifer DeRuwe says the cases are unrelated - and very different.

The spokeswoman said Wednesday that a Jan. 6 report of a naked man ringing door bells in south Spokane early in the morning really involved a teenage boy ringing one doorbell at a friend's house as a prank, then fleeing.

On Jan. 8, Spokane police arrested a registered sex offender found inside a couple's apartment with his clothes off. The apartment was ransacked. The man was released from jail earlier this week but picked up again Wednesday after detectives obtained an arrest warrant for residential burglary.
