
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: The two men critically wounded in a gang-related shooting on January 12th have been arrested for 1st Degree Burglary for their involvement in an attack earlier that day. Both suspects are recovering at a local hospital from the gunshot wounds they sustained but are under guard and will be transported to jail as soon as possible.
On January 12, 2013 around 3:00am, Apolonio J.J. Saldana, Tony I. Figueroa, and another male assaulted a man as he entered an apartment at 220 E. Wellseley. An hour later at 4:00am, the two also entered a house at 311 E. Liberty and took several belongings from another man.
Spokane Police officers responded to the report of a shooting at 311 E. Liberty at 4:05am and found Saldana lying on the floor in a bedroom, suffering gunshot wounds. A short time later, Tony Figueroa was found on the front porch of a home nearby, suffering from gunshot wounds.
A third victim was found near the intersection of Liberty and Addison, having suffered blunt force trauma to his head. Both suspects are under guard at a local hospital and will be transported to jail as soon as they are released from medical care.
In the course of their investigation, Spokane Police Detectives connected these assaults to gang-related activity. SPD is making strides in combating gang-related violence in Spokane.
