COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO - The road to a 5A state title in girls basketball goes through the IEL. Coeur D'alene and Lewiston have combined to win five state titles in the last five season, but Friday night it was the Vikings getting the better end of the Bengals.
CDA topped Lewiston 45-37 with Brittany Tackett and Kendalyn Brainard each scoring 10 points. The win puts the Vikings on top of the IEL with a 4-1 record in conference.
The girls team for Post Falls only has one loss on the year, but that came to Coeur D'Alene. The Trojans sit at 3-1 in the IEL, but Friday they completely dismantled Lake City 65-37.
Hallie Gennett led Post Falls with 30 points.
On the boys' side, Lake City remains the top team in IEL with a 58-56 win in IEL 5A.
Kyle Guice led the Timberwolves with 25 points in the win. Lake City is 4-0 in conference and hold a two game lead for first place.
Coeur d'Alene topped Lewiston on the boys' side 59-39.
