Car Fire Spreads To Apartment In Spokane Valley

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Spokane Valley firefighters were called out to a car fire Sunday afternoon that quickly turned into a structure fire.

It happened just after 1:00pm at an apartment complex off of Pines Road on Wilbur Road.

The owner we talked to on scene said they were changing a fuse in the garage of the apartment when the car began to smoke. They pushed car out of the garage and it quickly became engulfed in flames. The flames then spread rapidly to the apartment above.

Firefighters were able to extinguished the flames quickly, and even though the car is destroyed, the apartment sustained minor damage. However it is not habitable at this time, but the apartment complex is going to put the residents in another unit while repairs are made.
