SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Spokane Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich is seeking more authority to fire deputies who break the law.
State Rep. Kevin Parker of Spokane is sponsoring a bill supported by Knezovich and other sheriffs around Washington.
It would prevent deputies who are fired for lying or law-breaking from winning their jobs back through arbitration.
Parker says it would help restore public trust in law enforcement.
