Chiefs Snap Streak In Portland 5-2

PORTLAND, Ore- Todd Fiddler's hat trick and Mike Aviani's two goals led the Spokane Chiefs to a 5-2 win over the Portland Winterhawks Monday in Portland, OR. The win snapped Spokane's season high three game losing streak and was the Chiefs first win in 4 meetings with Portland this year.

Portland jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a Ty Rattie goal just 3:12 into the first period. Fiddler pulled the Chiefs even with his 31st of the season from Mitch Holmberg and Dylan Walchuk midway through the first to make it a 1-1 game. Aviani would give the Chiefs a 2-1 lead with his 22nd goal of the year from Adam Helewka at 15:45. Fiddler would extend the lead to 3-1 with his 4th shorthanded goal of the season at 6:57 of the second period. Fiddler's 32nd of the year was assisted by Reid Gow. Portland pulled within 3-2 on a Preston Kopeck shorthanded tally late in the second.

The Chiefs would get Aviani's second goal of the night from Holmberg at 11:05 of the third to go up 4-2. Fiddler would cap the scoring with his second career hat trick from Blake Gal into a Portland empty net at 19:13 to wrap up the victory. Spokane outshot Portland 38-35 in the contest.

Spokane will host Portland in back to back games at the Spokane Arena Wednesday and Friday at 7:05pm.
