OLYMPA, WA – Public and private broadband providers say high
speed internet access is improving throughout the state.
A new report by the Washington State Broadband Office says
more than 500 communities saw better broadband access through wireline and/or
their wireless providers last year.
The report shows 98.7% of people in the state live in areas
where internet is available, 83% of Washingtonians have internet at home, and
73.8% say they regularly use it.
In 2011, the statewide business income from electronic
shopping grew for the third year in a row to $3.1 billion. Washington state is
second only to California in the number of "apps economy" jobs, at 49,800.
