YAKIMA, Wash.-- Pacific Power is finishing a two-year project this spring to update a part of the Yakima electric system.
Crews are rebuilding a line starting at the station on Voelker and West Viola Avenues and ending at Pacific and Third Avenues.
The new line will increase the system's capacity and make it more reliable.
The company says it will follow the existing line's route.
"It's within the existing right of way but some of those poles are going to be a bit shorter so it will be a little bit of an improvement as far as the aesthetics," said Jan Mitchell with Pacific Power.
The company says the construction shouldn't cause many traffic problems or power outages.
They say if they do need to cut the power, customers in the area will get 48 hours notice.
