Former Washington State center Aron Baynes is on his way back to the United States after a tour through the Solvenian Basketball League. Baynes, from Australia, signed with the San Antonio Spurs and could be on the roster by this weekend.

Terms of Baynes' NBA contract were not disclosed, but sources say the Spurs paid $400,000 to get him away from Union Olimpija where he was averaging 13.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 26.2 minutes per game.

"It was an easy decision to make – to want to come [to San Antonio] and be a part of the team," said Baynes in a news conference.(+VIDEO)

He said having Brett Brown as an assistant coach (former coach of the Australian national team) and Patty Mills (also Australian) as the starting point guard would make the transition to the NBA even easier for him.

Baynes played at WSU from 2005-09 and averaged 8.7 points per game during his collegiate career.
