Teen Sentenced in Wapato Gang Shooting

WAPATO, Wash. - A judge sentenced an 18-year-old teenager to more than three years in prison Thursday for a gang shooting in Wapato that left a teen victim paralyzed from the waist down.

Armando Hernandez Lopez was convicted of assault in the July 2011 shooting of Jose Mesa.

As part of his plea, Lopez is prohibited from association with gang members and getting any gang tattoos or piercings while in prison.

A judge sentenced a second gang member accused in the shooting, 17-year-old Angel Antonio Gonzalez, to six months in jail. Gonzalez pleaded guilty last month to assault.
