ALERT: Escaped Geiger Inmate At Large

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE:

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - On Sunday evening Spokane County Sheriff's Office Geiger Corrections Deputies reported an inmate escaped the facility. The inmate, 38-year-old Michael S. Wheeler, was last seen by Geiger staff between 5:35 and 5:55 p.m. in the kitchen area where he was assigned as an inmate worker.
 
Sheriff's Office patrol deputies, K9 and additional assisting agencies responded to the area, set up a perimeter and conducted a search but were unable to locate Wheeler.
 
Wheeler is described as a white male, 5'08', 170 lbs, brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a tan or blue jumpsuit.  He was in custody for several charges: Attempting to Elude, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Assault of a Health Service Provider, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Stolen Property, Residential Burglary and Theft Charges.
 
The investigation into this incident is ongoing and there is no further information at this time.
