SPOKANE, Wash. - Acting on a tip, Deputies with the Northwest Violent Offender Task Force and US Marshals surrounded a home in the 800 block of S. Adams on Spokane's lower south hill Tuesday afternoon in an attempt to locate escaped Geiger Corrections inmate, Michael Wheeler.

When deputies and US Marshals arrived they saw one man run back into house, however they couldn't tell if it was Wheeler. Law enforcement officials surrounded the home and were able to detain two women while trying to get the man inside to come out. Eventually that man came out of the house but law enforcement says it was not Michael Wheeler.

Authorities believed there was still another man inside the home who refused to come out, and after obtaining a search warrant went inside the home after him. Members of the task force were quickly able to detain the last man in the house, however that man turned out not to be Wheeler either.

In total, 4 people, two males and two females were detained from the home for questioning. Law enforcement says they are not under arrest at this time.

Wheeler remains on the loose.
