Local Hockey Team Loses Thousands Worth Of Gear

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - Saturday is game day for the Idaho Vandals Club Hockey Team. The team plays Washington State University on Saturday night in Cheney. But they will be missing a few players.

A few members of the team was staying the night in Spokane on Friday night. 4 team members put their gear bags in Spencer Wolfe's truck, and went to bed. Wolfe locked the car, and since he has a keyless pad opener on his driver side door, put the keys in the car. During the night, someone broke into the front window, found the keys, and took off. Spokane Sheriff's Deputies found the car on Saturday morning. The thieves had used it in a attempted robbery, all the way across town near Antoine Peak.

The truck was damaged, but what the team was more worried about was their gear. All four gear bags were gone, along with 6 pairs of skates. Wolfe told KHQ that there were about $1,000 worth of hockey gear in each bag. On Saturday night, those four kids will most likely sit out. "I am probably not going to be able to play, I have my stick that's about it. They left one of my skates. I can skate on one foot, if they need me to. I don't have any other gear besides that," said Wolfe.

The team also lost 25 jerseys, all about $100 each. If you would like to donate to the Vandals' Club Hockey Team, head to their website at www.vandalhockey.com
