COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho - Former Idaho firefighter gets life sentence after sex crimes with a minor.

Billy E. Miller Jr., 38, received a life sentence today with the possibility of parole after 20 years. Miller pled guilty to lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16. Miller was a lieutenant with the Northern Lakes Fire District. A spokesman with the first district said earlier that this incident came as a surprise to the district.

Prosecutors say Miller sexually abused two girls under the age of 16 repeatedly. KHQ has chosen not to release the names of the victims or the details of the abuse because the victims are minors. Wednesday during sentencing Miller remained silent even when the judge asked he wanted to say anything. In a victims statement in the courtroom Wednesday a relative of the victims stated Miller was "A Monster" and said Miller "Destroyed their childhood and innocence."
