Woman Accused Of Throwing 3-Year-Old Daughter Out Of Moving Vehicle

Posted: Updated:

KHQ.COM - A woman from Montana's Crow Reservation has been charged with killing her 3-year-old daughter by allegedly throwing her from a moving vehicle.

Mary Agnes Leider, of St. Xavier, made an initial court appearance on second degree murder charges Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn Ostby.

She could get life in prison if convicted. According to an FBI affidavit filed in the case, Leider was riding in a vehicle with relatives Dec. 3 when she threw her daughter out the window along U.S. Highway 313 near Hardin.

The girl, Tenielle Ameryl Big Day, died of blunt force trauma to the head. The affidavit says Leider later told authorities her daughter had been sitting on her lap when the vehicle suddenly stopped. She could not recall what happened to the child.
