COLVILLE, Wash. - A Fort Colville Elementary student is being called a hero Friday night after  telling an adult he saw weapons in a fellow student's backpack.

Faculty and staff say the actions of Justin Sanders, 10, may have saved the lives of countless young students.

Justin told a school monitor about the knife before school had started.

That school monitor then questioned the student about the knife.

Two students, just 10 and 11-years-old, were found to be in possession of a gun, ammunition, and a knife on Thursday.

Justin is now being praised by community members for warning school staff.

In a private meeting Friday morning, Justin received the Principal's Award for his bravery.

The Superintendent also says they plan to celebrate Justin in future events.

Those two students now face charges of Conspiracy to Commit Murder as well as two other charges.

Stevens County Prosecutors believe the best friends plotted to harm or kill eight students.

The boys are now in Juvenile Detention on $100,000 dollars bond.
