Caught On Tape: Thief Breaks Into Car, Steals Valuables

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash – In broad daylight, with other customers around, Karen's SUV was broken into while she was inside a laundromat in North Spokane, and now she's hoping you'll recognize the thief caught on camera.

Karen doesn't want her last name used, but told KHQ it actually happened in January at the "Laundry Room" near Lyons & Nevada, but she just recently got a copy of the video.

In it, you see a truck pull up next to Karen's SUV.  Her doors were locked, but the back hatch was open while she was bringing blankets inside.  You see a suspect jump out of the truck and spend several minutes walking around her vehicle, then trying to break the window – even kicking it – before he finally got inside, grabbed her purse and took off.

As if that weren't frustrating enough, there was something really special inside.

"The most valuable thing that was in there was a vintage wedding set that was my husband's mom's," Karen told KHQ.  "And she just passed away last year."

She said being targeted feels violating, and so far, she hasn't gotten those rings – or any of her stuff back – and is hoping you recognize the truck or suspect in the video.

If you do, call police.
