COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - To most, Chris Macklin is a simple Coeur d'Alene garbage man, but to others he is much more.
It was reported Monday morning that a man had rolled his truck 30-feet down into a hole and it was there he stayed overnight.
Chris Macklin was driving his truck when he noticed the truck in the hole. Macklin did not know if any people were in the vehicle but he decided he would investigate. To his surprise, there was someone. He immediately called 911.
The man had been trapped in his truck for almost 24-hours in 20-degree temperatures. Many other drivers had probably driven by but just couldn't see the vehicle down in the hole.
Macklin broke open the truck windows and talked to the trapped individual until EMT's arrived.
Macklin says he is not a hero. Instead, he says he is a good citizen who just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
The man who was trapped inside the vehicle is still in the hospital Thursday night in fair condition.
