SEATTLE, Wash. -

The Washington Huskies (14-12, 6-7 Pac-12) picked up a much-needed win Saturday against Oregon State thanks in part to an unlikely duo.

Shawn Kemp, Jr. dropped 10 points in the second half to aid in the victory. But the real unsung hero might have been Jernard Jerreau, who scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds. As a sophomore, Jerreau doesn't usually play as much as he did, but coach Lorenzo Romar liked what he was doing.

"To Jernard's credit, he came in ready to play," said Romar. "He did a very good job against a zone on offense and grabbed seven rebounds – the most I think he's ever had in one game."

"At practice I told him, ‘we need you no matter what; you don't have to play the last five games. Just stay ready no matter what and when your time comes, be prepared,'" said teammate Abdul Gaddy.

The Huskies have just five games left in the regular season, including a home tilt March 3 against Washington State.
