The Trip Of A Lifetime Hits The Big Screen

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - Tuesday night veterans and their families were treated to a first hand look at the efforts of a special group as they share an experience with veterans they will never forget.

Organizers say there weren't surprised that they were able to sell out a 235 seat theater on a Tuesday night.

It's the same support they have seen for the last few years allowing them to send 538 local veterans to Washington D.C. on the trip of a lifetime.

Spokane was chosen as 1 of less than 50 cities nationwide for the premier of Honor Flight: The Movie.

The two hour documentary follows four World War II veterans from Wisconsin on their trip to our nation's capital.

The movie is not only about the four men featured in the film, but the 16 million Americans who fought in World War II and their experiences thanks to the Honor Flight program.

Northwest Honor Flight Director Tony Lamanna has personally escorted veterans on 20 trips to see the Memorial. He says this movie gives everyone, including those who can't go, a chance to experience what this trip truly means.

The group already has plans to send 200 more local veterans to Washington D.C. this year and because of the tremendous turnout tonight, organizers are now trying to arrange a second showing.

They say chances are good because of the outpouring of support their group receives from the Spokane community.
