Inslee Urges Boeing and Workers to Resume Talks - Spokane, North Idaho News & Weather KHQ.com

SEATTLE, Wash. -Governor Jay Inslee is asking Boeing and union representatives to resume negotiations after technical workers rejected a contract offer and voted to authorize a future strike. 

Boeing Co.'s engineers, however, accepted a new four-year contract. 

Inslee said in a statement that the vast majority of the state's 131,000 aerospace-related employees are directly reliant on Boeing. 

While a strike by the technical workers is not imminent, the vote means the negotiating team can call one at any time. 

Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner said in a statement that the company was pleased with the engineers' vote but "deeply disappointed" in the technical workers' rejection of what he called the company's "best and final" offer.
