DIAMOND LAKE, Wash. - An early morning house fire took crews 5 hours to put out. The fire broke on S. Shore Rd. of Diamond Lake. The homeowner was sleeping when he woke up to a crackling sound in the attic. When he realized it was a fire, he managed to escape unharmed.
The man had turned off the smoke alarms because he was remodeling the house. When crews started fighting the fire, one of the firefighter fell through a hole in the main floor and was trapped in the basement. Members of his team pulled him out very quickly and brought him to a hospital in Newport. He only has minor injuries.
The only reason he went to the hospital was just to double check he was ok. There were about 30 volunteer firefighters fighting this fire.
