KIROTV.COM - A father helped deliver a baby Tuesday night along a highway while heading to the hospital, said the Washington State Patrol.

According to troopers, a family was on their way to the hospital when father pulled over their Dodge Challenger on State Route 512 at Interstate 5 and helped deliver the baby.

The family then went to Madigan Army Medical Center on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

"Thank you to everyone who responded last night. We are also grateful for the kindness and care we have received at Madigan. Our family has been blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Anneliese Patricia Sanchez arriving at 10:30 p.m., February 19, weighing seven pounds, four ounces," said the Sanchez family.

State Patrol said the daughter, mother and father are doing great.
