Washington State Awarded $1 Million State Innovation Model Grant

Posted: Updated:

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The federal Department of Health and Human Services has awarded Washington State's Health Care Authority a $1 million "pre-testing assistance grant" to improve health care and lower costs.

Starting April 1st, the funds will be used to develop a plan to "to test innovative models that can deliver improved care and lower costs through a multi-payer-supported approach to integrated care."

The grant builds on the state's application last year to transform health care delivery through collaboration with public and private partners.

Over 80 letters of endorsement from state health care entities were submitted with the application last year.

Washington State Health Care Authority's Acting Director says the grant would build on a strong commitment to reform health care in the state.
