OLYMPIA, Wash. - A Senate committee led by pro-gun lawmakers is blocking bills that seek to control firearms.
Members of the Law and Justice Committee voted Friday to reject five bills related to guns, including one bill that planned to create a task force to study weapon violence. The votes indicate that momentum related to some gun laws may stall in the Senate committee this year, even when the bills have some bipartisan support in the chamber.
Democratic Sen. Adam Kline says the Republican-led majority on the committee was stuck in a policy position that rejects even common sense ideas.
Sen. Mike Padden chairs the committee and did not hold public hearings on many of the gun proposals. Padden says he is not sure if the committee will hear a proposal to expand background checks, with the state House is considering.

Tuesday afternoon the North Idaho Violent Crimes Task Force arrested 22-year-old Michael Anthony Sanchez in connection with the robbery of the Dominos Pizza that happened in Hayden back on November 15th.
