SPOKANE, Wash. - Two people are in custody after they attempted to run from police in a car chase that started in Airway Heights at Northern Quest Casino Tuesday night.
Airway Heights Police tell us that they were investigating a black Jeep at the casino that had been reported as stolen when the Jeep took off on Highway 2 towards Spokane.
The Spokane County Sheriff's Department as well as Spokane Police were called in to assist in the chase which wove it's way through west Spokane.
Police deployed spike strips on the TJ Meenach Bridge which the driver hit, causing him to lose his front two tires.
The chase continued into northwest Spokane before the driver crashed his car into a parking lot at the intersection of Northwest Blvd. and N. Cannon St.
That's when the driver fled on foot, before the Spokane
PD caught the driver using one of their K9 units.
The driver and passenger were apprehended and both are in custody.
The driver also had a Department of Corrections warrant, and it is likely that he will face more charges.
