The storybook ending for Yakama Nation wasn't meant to be, as it dropped its girls 1B consolation game to St. John-Endicott, 69-35, on Friday morning.
Yakama Nation was playing in its first State B Tournament ever. The offseason additions of Lynndell and Athena Wapsheli, due to transfers, had provided a boost. Lynndell scored 15 and Athena had 14, but it wasn't enough to overcome 19 turnovers.
St. John-Endicott shot just 37.3 percent, but was able to hoist 75 shots to run Yakama Nation out of the gym. Gretchen Van Lith led the Eagles with 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting.
St. John-Endicott plays the winner of Shoreline Christian-Taholah on Saturday morning.
