Mead Survives to Earn Spot in Title Game - Spokane, North Idaho News & Weather KHQ.com

TACOMA, WA – The Mead Panthers are going back to the state championship game for the first time since 2010, when now Senior Jade Redmon was just a freshman.  The Panthers punched their ticket to the state title game by holding on to beat Mt. Rainier 51-50 on Friday Night.

Mead led by 12 going into the fourth quarter, but the Rams used a 9-0 run to cut the lead to just one under a minute to play. Birttany McPhee scored 34 of the team's 50 points, but in the final seconds passed it away to her sister Jordan who missed a potential game-winner.

The Panthers scored 15 points in each quarter, except for the 4^th when they were held to just six points. Delany Junkermier paced Mead with 15 points, while Ashlyn Lewey finished with a double-double, scoring 14 and rebounding 11.

Mead will take on Arlington in the 4A Washington State Championship game Saturday night at 7:00 PM.
