TACOMA, WA – The Mead Panthers are going back to the state championship game for the first time since 2010, when now Senior Jade Redmon was just a freshman.  The Panthers punched their ticket to the state title game by holding on to beat Mt. Rainier 51-50 on Friday Night.

Mead led by 12 going into the fourth quarter, but the Rams used a 9-0 run to cut the lead to just one under a minute to play. Birttany McPhee scored 34 of the team's 50 points, but in the final seconds passed it away to her sister Jordan who missed a potential game-winner.

The Panthers scored 15 points in each quarter, except for the 4th when they were held to just six points. Delany Junkermier paced Mead with 15 points, while Ashlyn Lewey finished with a double-double, scoring 14 and rebounding 11.

Mead will take on Arlington in the 4A Washington State Championship game Saturday night at 7:00 PM.
