
Gonzaga Prep took home fourth place.TACOMA, Wash. -- In the final day of the 3A/4A Hardwood Classic, a pair of GSL schools walked away with fourth-place trophies.
The Central Valley boys had the early game and beat Newport, 56-39, to cap their visit to Tacoma. The Bears had a second-half spark, scoring 38 points and shooting over 50 percent from the field.
Adam Chamberlain and AJ Knudsen both finished with 17 points, while Austin Rehkow scored 12 in his final game with the Bears.
The University girls also had an early game, but they came out flat and couldn't recover. The Titans fell, 47-36, to Kamiakin, with the Braves taking fourth and U-High finishing sixth.
Sira Toure led the way with 21 points for Kamiakin. Toure, along with Courtney Nelson and Holly Ellison, combined for 45 of the team's 47 points.
Brooke Bailey led University in scoring with 11 points, while Kayleigh Valley finished with 8 points and 17 rebounds.
The 10:30 a.m. game, and fourth place, belonged to Gonzaga Prep, as they outshot a much bigger Inglemoor team to win, 65-59.
The Bullpups shot 52 percent from the field and shot a remarkable 44 percent from three. Kayla Leland led all scorers with 19 points. Leland and Hannah Caudill both made three 3-pointers in the game. Laura Stockton had a balanced effort with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists.
