TACOMA, WA – Four years ago, the Mead Panthers lost in the 4A State championship game, but on Saturday Jade Redmon and the senior class had their redemption as they beat Arlington 58-42 to take the 4A state title.
The Panthers took a 12-7 lead after the first quarter and closed out the 2nd quarter on a 9-1 run to take a 13 point lead at the half.
The second half was all Panthers as sophomore Sue Winger sparked Mead with a pair of threes as part of her team-high 16 points.
It was another balanced effort from Mead, as Ashlyn Lewey scored in double-figures with 14. Delany Junkermier had 9 points and Jade Redmon had 9 points with six assists.
Mead last won a state title in girls basketball back in 1996. The 2012-2013 Panthers finished the season with just one loss.
