UPDATED Press Release From The Coeur d'Alene Police Department:

Coeur d'Alene Police School Resource Officers and FBI officials have continued their joint investigation of the located runaway from Coeur d'Alene.*

The teen was located by the FBI on March 5th at approximately 5:25pm in Bakersfield, California. It was initially believed she was possibly in the company of a twenty-seven year old male due to his name being associated with the residence she was found in. With further investigation FBI Agents in California confirmed that a 45 year-old female had been in contact with her by cell phone prior to her running away.

The female, who has yet to be charged and therefore will not be named, is the mother of a fifteen-year old boy that the teen met over the Internet. The male juvenile and the teen formed a relationship.

Agents who interviewed the mother of the male juvenile learned that she wanted to assist her son and the teen in their desire to be together. The mother purchased a train ticket and arrived in Spokane on March 5th.

The mother rented a car and drove to Coeur d'Alene. She reportedly parked at the end of the block the teen lives on and waited for the teen to meet her, and get into her car. She then drove back to Spokane, and stayed for a brief time at the Red Lion Inn for a while waiting for the train to depart back to California. She purchased a train ticket for the teen and took her with her back to California.

Authorities continue to work with jurisdiction guidelines, and will be determining appropriate charges in the near future. The teen is in the custody of Child Protective Services in California. School Resource Officers are working with CPS to facilitate the return of the teen to her parents. The Police Department would like to thank the FBI for their assistance with this case, and their efforts to get this child home safely.

*Because the teen has been located, and the parents have been notified, KHQ is no longer using the teens name or picture, and have therefore taken the name out of this press release.
