N. Idaho Deputy Fired After Second DUI Charge

Posted: Updated:

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) - A Nez Perce County Sheriff's deputy has been fired after receiving a second charge of driving under the influence following a guilty plea to a previous DUI charge in 2011.

The Lewiston Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/Y5Zc8h) that 38-year-old Jay Colvin was fired Thursday.

Nez Perce County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Scot Gleason says Colvin was fired after an internal investigation.

Colvin in 2011 was sentenced to probation and community service for drunken driving following his guilty plea.

In January an Idaho State Police trooper arrested Colvin in Lewiston after the trooper said he saw Colvin failing to signal during a lane change and his blood alcohol level tested at 0.123 percent and 0.134 percent.

Colvin has pleaded not guilty in Magistrate Court to that charge.
