UPDATE: One Woman Dead After Fatal Head On Collision Near Nine Mile Falls

UPDATE: NINE MILE FALLS, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol says 72-year-old Jonina Lorene Flyckt of Nine Mile Falls was killed Tuesday night when the car in which she was riding collided head-on with a car driven by a 17-year-old on a Stevens County road.

17-year-old Justin Price of Deer Park had swerved to avoid hitting a car driven by his sister that had broken down about six miles north of Nine Mile Falls.
    
The driver of the other car, 73-year-old Gary Leroy Flyckt, was taken to a Spokane hospital in stable condition.

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - One person died Tuesday evening after a fatal head on collision. It happened at Swenson Road near the intersection of Mckenzie Woolard Rd near the Nine Mile area.

According to officials on scene, one vehicle was pulled over on Swenson Rd because it had broken down. Another car swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting the broken down car, but hit another car head on.

A female passenger in the car that was hit was pronounced dead at the scene by Med Star crews.

A male driver was taken to a local hospital. The severity of his injuries are unknown at this time. Two other people were also injured, one in the car that caused the crash and another with the broken down car. Both were treated on scene and released. The cause is under investigation by Washington State Patrol.
