OLYMPIA, Wash. - A bill introduced by three Republican senators would cut the Washington State Supreme Court by four.
The measure would require a public meeting for the current nine justices to draw straws. The four that draw the shortest straws "shall be terminated and those judges shall not serve the remainder of their respective unexpired terms."
Spokane Senator Michael Baumgartner says this is not a joke. He says they want to save money to fund education, and a supreme
court shake-up could overthrow the recent ruling that requires
one-billion dollars for education.
