No Arrests Made In North Spokane Shooting Death

SPOKANE, Wash. - Kim Blackmore is nine weeks and six days pregnant. This is the first child that she was expecting with Marshall Balduff, but now Marshall Balduff is dead after he was shot during a home invasion Wednesday night. During the invasion, Blackmore was inside.

Blackmore said that she got into an altercation with Balduff the night before (Tuesday) and that anger continued into the final seconds of his life. Balduff entered through the doggie door in the home on the 6000 block of North Wall in North Spokane.

"He told George and Sharon (homeowners) multiple times that he was going to kill me and the baby," Blackmore said.

When he entered the home George saw Balduff had a knife and was coming at him.

"George asked him, ‘Marshall, do you want to die?'" Blackmore said. "All I heard was what George had asked and I seen George shoot him."

Balduff died hours later and Blackmore learned of it at the police department after he EMT's rushed her out of the home.

"Regardless of what happened what was said, what happened between Marshall and I, I went to his aid and I held his hand," Blackmore said. "I didn't want to leave his side, no matter what happened. I love him dearly, we were together for nearly four years."

The police department has made no arrests and this time, but the investigation continues. It will soon be turned over to the Prosecutor's Office. Balduff's mom reached out to KHQ Local News on Thursday and said that she prays the shooter is not charged with anything as her son was violent and was drinking at the time of his death.

Fire lined vs. fire containment: What's the difference?

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - We've had a lot of questions about what firefighters  are talking about when they say that the fire is 100 percent lined, but that the Upriver-Beacon fire is 0% contained. Here's the gist, according to firefighters: Containment is essentially their faith in the strength of the fire line. So when they say there is a line around 100 percent of the fire, but 0 percent containment, it means they are concerned that the fire could jump the line.
