Bid To Revamp McEuen Park Accepted

COUER D'ALENE, Idaho - The controversial revamp of McEuen park has been a long time in the making. At a Tuesday meeting, six contractors submitted bids for a chance to get the city contract. With the lowest bid coming in at $14.6 million and the highest at $17.7 million dollars. The bids came within the range of what the city expected, despite early estimates of the parks cost ranging from $23 to $39 million dollars when the plan was unveiled two years ago. The current work that is being done on the park is a separate contract.

City engineers estimated the total McEuen revamp to cost a little more than $15 million dollars.

City officials met to vote on the construction bids for McEuen park on Thursday and have officially accepted the lowest bid. The bid from Contractors Northwest Incorporated was for $14.6 million dollars. Because the bid came in under the $15 million dollar budget the city has requested some additional features, which brings the total to $14.8 million dollars.

Construction is expected to start sometime in the next couple months.
