Posted: Updated:

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (AP) - A Mountain Home airman has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the beating death of his 22-month-old stepson.

Elmore County prosecutors filed the murder charge Thursday against 20-year-old Richard Ryan Laubach in connection with the death of 22-month-old Joseph Wayne Graham.

The child died Wednesday at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise from what Ada County Coroner Erwin Sonnenberg said was an abusive head injury. Prosecutors say the child sustained a broken leg, skull fractures, bruises and swelling of the brain.

Laubach has not yet entered a plea and is being held in the Elmore County Jail without bond.
