Bomb Threat Shuts Down Schools In Boundary County

BOUNDARY COUNTY, Idaho - All schools in the Boundary County School District were closed Monday morning after a bomb threat was called into 911 dispatch. The threat did not name a specific school, so after conferring with law enforcement, the decision to shut down all five schools in the district was made by the Superintendent.

Law enforcement, including the Border Patrol, were called in to search all five buildings, however nothing was found.

The Superintendent told KHQ Monday afternoon that this is the ninth bomb threat in the district since May 2012. Most of the threats were made by writing on bathroom stalls, however prevention methods such as bathroom monitors, meetings with law enforcement, students, and attorneys has seen the number of threats at schools go down. Monday morning's threat however came via telephone.

All schools in the district will be open on Tuesday.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Six-year-old Denny Curran should be enjoying his last few days of summer before first grade. He should be teasing his brother, splashing in the pool, giving his parents a hard time about vegetables. Instead, Denny is dead, the victim of a horrific, freak bicycle accident that could happen to your child too. "Denny was an extraordinary child," his father Keith Curran told KHQ.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police say they saw a dramatic increase in drug related calls on Tuesday. Police say at least one person has died and officers responded to almost 20 other calls of people acting erratically. Police are looking into whether there is a drug on the street that is "creating adverse health effects." Reported behavior is consistent with a stimulant, causing people to hallucinate and act in an unpredictable and sometimes violent manner.

SPOKANE, Wash. - The skies above Eastern Washington lakes and rivers have been a little busier these days. With wildfire season raging on, emergency crews have relied on air attacks from planes that scoop water. They're called fire bosses and you won't want to be in between them and the water when a fire is nearby. "It's extremely dangerous and they are an emergency vehicle," said Howard Platter of Newman Lake.
