AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. - On Friday morning authorities from Spokane County, Spokane Valley, Airway Heights Police and Washington State Patrol responded to a 911 call of a man saying he was going to have a shoot out with police.

When authorities arrived at the home in the West Prairie Village they quickly started a foot chase with 29-year-old Steven Mulinex. They quickly caught up with him Deputies say no firearm was ever found in his possession. Mulinex was arrested for outstanding drug warrants. He was also charged with domestic violence.

Deputies say Mulinex and his girlfriend Rhyllie Stoddard were arguing inside the home when Mulinex punched her in the face. At sometime during the argument deputies say Stoddard pointed a gun at a 16-year-old boy outside of the home and told him to leave. Stoddard was charged with assault. Both Stoddard and Mulinex were booked in to the Spokane County jail.

Rhyllie Stoddard is the niece of Gary Stoddard. Gary Stoddard was arrested March 12th for the murder of Heather Cassel.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:

On March 22, 2013, at about 11:15 a.m., Spokane County Sheriff's Deputy Raymond Miller was investigating a natural death in the West Prairie Villa trailer complex located near 2100 North Craig Road.

A domestic violence call came out in the same complex where a male subject, later identified as 29-year-old Steven Mulinex, was heard saying he was going to "shoot it out" with deputies if they came to the residence. Deputy Miller and several other deputies, as well as Airway Heights Officers, responded to the complex.

Mulinex was observed by deputies on the perimeter running in a field near the complex and was taken into custody by Sgt. McNall a short time later. A 16-year-old juvenile male was walking by the complex and heard commotion inside the trailer. He knocked on the door and was greeted by 20-year-old Rhyllie Stoddard. Stoddard pointed a firearm at the male victim's head when she opened the door resulting in her eventual arrest for 1st Degree Assault with a Firearm.

Deputies saw Stoddard had a bloody mouth and determined through their investigation that it was the result of Mulinex assaulting her. Mulinex was booked into the Spokane County Jail on an unrelated Felony Drug Warrant and new charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, 4th Degree Assault and 3rd Degree Malicious Mischief (both Domestic Violence charges), and Resisting Arrest.

Stoddard was booked into jail on the felony charge of 1st Degree Assault.
