Armed Robbery At Spokane Valley Bar

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE VALLEY—Spokane County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a robbery suspect who  they say used a gun to tie up a female employee at Poppy's Tavern and run off with money.

Police say around 11 a.m. a man was drinking at the bar inside Poppy's Tavern in Spokane Valley when he threatened the female employee with a handgun and tied her up with zip ties. He demanded to know where she kept the money. He fled on foot with the money (and his beer). The woman, who wishes to not be identified, was able to free herself from the zip ties after about ten minutes and ran to the business next door to call police.

Police responded and tried tracking the suspect with a K-9 unit but were unable to find him.

The female employee manages the bar and told police she recognized the man as a customer from the day before, but she has no other information about who he might be.

Police describe the suspect as a white male in his mid to late 30's, wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and a fishing hat.
