SALT LAKE CITY – The Seattle Mariners set a spring training record with their 22nd victory in a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies in front of a sold-out crowd of 15,411 at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

The win improved the Mariners to 22-11, finishing spring play with the second-most wins in MLB behind the Kansas City Royals (25-7-2). The 22 wins broke the old club record of 21 wins during spring training play in 1994.

The Mariners and Rockies exchanged solo home runs to tie the game at 2-2 through the first seven innings. Designated hitterKendrys Morales (#7 in 4th inning) and first baseman Justin Smoak (#5 in 5th inning) each hit solo home runs for the Mariners. Troy Tulowitzki and Todd Helton both homered off Mariners starter Brandon Maurer.

The homers by Morales and Smoak increased the Mariners MLB-leading spring total to 58 home runs, the most by any team in spring play since 1999 (Cubs, 62).

The Mariners broke the 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the top of the eighth inning. Jason Bay led off with a walk, moved to third on a Mike Zunino single, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Raul Ibañez. Brad Miller doubled over the left fielder's head to score Zunino.

Relief pitcher Stephen Pryor (1-0) earned the win with a perfect seventh inning and minor leaguer Brian Sweeney notched his first save with a scoreless ninth frame.

Maurer allowed 4 hits and a pair of solo home runs while recording a no-decision. Maurer finished the spring with a 3-1 record and a 1.50 ERA. The right-hander is scheduled to make his Major League debut Thursday vs. the Oakland Athletics (12:37 p.m.).

The Mariners open the 2013 season Monday, April 1 vs. the Oakland Athletics at Oakland Coliseum (7:07pm / ROOT Sports / 710 ESPN Seattle and the Mariners Radio Network). Felix Hernandez will make his sixth career Opening Day start against A's left-hander Brett Anderson. The Mariners open the season with a seven-game road trip (at Oakland and Chicago-AL), and return to Safeco Field April 8 to face the Houston Astros (7:10 pm).
