Americans still recovering as Chiefs learn next opponent

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- As the Tri-City Americans get over their first round exit. The Spokane Chiefs learn their next opponent. The Portland Winterhawks match up with the Chiefs in the Western Conference semi-finals. The good news for Tri-City, one of those two teams will definitely lose this round. The Chiefs and the Winterhawks each knocked out the Ams over the last two post-seasons. Not easy to get over elimination.

"Well that takes a bit of time. For me I know it's catching up on some sleep. I feel like when you're in it, the adrenaline is going. It goes for 6-7-8 months. Then it hits you. And you realize how emotionally drained you are. You've got to get through that. I know I've done this before. So I get through that. It takes a week or two. Then you start planning next year. Then you think about next year every day," Americans head coach Jim Hiller said.
