RICHLAND, Wash. - Last year SWX right now told you a story about a softball player from Richland High School who came back from thyroid cancer. Now Monika Hebky is back as a senior to help the talented bombers, this year she's a captain. But her struggles are not over. Hebky is healthy enough to start at shortstop though her energy levels vary daily from her medication. Hebky also needs a few more radiation pills to make sure the cancer doesn't come back. Still every day she gives her all.

"The hardest part about having my energy flip-flop from day to day is that I'll never know what day I'll be good and what day I'll be bad. So I just have to struggle through that day and fight through. On game days I'll just push through and do my best, give it 110 percent and that's all I can give it," said Hebky.

"None, there's no adjustments with Monika, she wouldn't want it that way. There's no adjustment at all, Zero. She goes 110 prevent, gives us what she's got every single day and so we haven't altered it at all," said Casey Emery, Richland softball head coach.
