BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A state judge has sentenced a Boise man to life in prison for the 2011 death of his infant son.
The judge on Tuesday ordered 20-year-old Reynaldo Sanchez to spend at least 13.5 years in prison before being eligible for parole. The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/14a34P4) that Sanchez has been in jail since late 2011.
Sanchez pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in January in the death of his 3-month-ld son Adrien, who died in December 2011.
In court Tuesday, Sanchez apologized to the boy's mother and is taking responsibility for his actions.
The Ada County Coroner concluded the child died of blunt force trauma injuries to the head. Testimony in court also cited bruising on the child's legs, arms, forehead and retinal hemorrhages in his eyes.
