WSP: Bus Carrying High School Soccer Players Slides Down 75-Foot Embankment

Posted: Updated:

WINLOCK, Wash. (AP) - Occupants of a bus carrying high school soccer players sustained only minor injuries when the vehicle went off the road and slid down a 75-foot embankment near the southwest Washington community of Winlock.

The Winlock Fire Department said there were 32 players, two managers, two coaches and the driver on the bus. None were transported to the hospital following the Tuesday night accident.

The bus ended up at the bottom of an embankment of an exit off Interstate 5.

Authorities say the bus driver was able to maintain the bus upright as it slid. The Winlock School District bus was taking the soccer team back to the area from a game in Vancouver. The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
